Why

What's my why for DeafinitelyQueer

Why I'm Starting deafinitelyqueer

Hi and welcome to deafinitelyqueer – I’m so glad you’re here.

I’ve been thinking about creating a space like this for a long time. Somewhere real, honest, and unapologetically me. A place where deafness, queerness, coeliac life, and a love for travel can all exist together – and I know I’m not alone.

So who am I? I'm a Deaf, queer person living with coeliac disease – identities that have shaped every part of how I move through the world. Traveling, dining out, navigating new spaces – none of it is ever just simple.

Over the years, I’ve searched for stories like mine. Travel blogs that understand what it means to look for gluten-free menus. Spaces that are safe to exist as a queer person. I’ve found pieces here and there, but rarely the whole picture. That’s what inspired me to start this page.

deafinitelyqueer isn’t just about travel. It’s about access, visibility, and belonging. It’s about showing up in every space as all of who you are – and making space for others to do the same. It’s about storytelling, advocacy, community, and a little bit of joy in between.

I don’t have all the answers, but I have stories. By sharing my travel experiences, I hope it helps someone out there.

Thanks for being here at the beginning. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
